Ingredients
1. For the dough
2. For the topping (optional)
Step-by-Step Method
Wake up the yeast
Take the warm milk in a large bowl. Add sugar. If you are using dry yeast, sprinkle it and wait for it to foam for 5-10 minutes. If you are going to use fresh yeast, dissolve it completely in milk.
Add liquids
Add the melted butter, eggs and salt to the bowl. Mix by whisking briefly.
Add the flour in a controlled manner and knead
Add the flour little by little. When the dough comes together, put it on the counter and knead for 8-10 minutes. Aim for a soft dough that is slightly sticky but holds its form; Adjust the amount of flour accordingly.
First fermentation
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rest in a warm environment for approximately 1-1.5 hours until its volume increases significantly.
Shape
Gently remove the air from the dough. Divide into 12 equal parts and shape each into smooth meringue. Place them spaced apart on a baking paper-lined or lightly oiled tray.
Final fermentation
Cover the tray and let it sit for 30–45 minutes until the meringue puffs up and comes close together. At this stage, preheat the oven to 180°C.
Bake
If you want, put a little milk on them. Bake in a preheated 180°C oven for 18–25 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
Rest and serve
After taking it out of the oven, let it rest on the tray for 10 minutes. Serve warm; You can cover it with a clean cloth to prevent it from drying out.
