Step-by-Step Method
Prepare the cabbage
Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage. Boil water in a large pot, boil the cabbage for 5–8 minutes and soften the leaves. Separate the leaves one by one; Thin out very thick veins with a knife.
Cook the rice in advance
Cook white and brown rice separately in enough water to cover them until they remain slightly firm, then drain them. This way you won't get mushy in the oven.
Saute the onion
Melt the butter in a large pan. Fry the chopped onion for 4-5 minutes, turning until it softens.
Fry the meat
Add ground beef and sausage stuffing. Cook until brown and crumbly; If excess oil accumulates, remove it with a spoon.
Add the spice and tomato mixture
Sprinkle with allspice, salt and thyme. Add chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste and boil over low heat for 5 minutes.
Combine with the rice
Add the cooked white and brown rice to the pan. Gently mix the mortar; Try not to crush it too much.
Arrange in layers in the baking dish
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Spread a few cabbage leaves on the bottom of a medium-sized baking dish. Spread some of the mixture on top. Repeat these layers until you run out of material; Let the cabbage leaves come on top.
Cook and let rest.
Cover the bowl with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing; Serve with sour cream if desired.
