For the dough

Water
(100 g) granulated sugar (extra 1–2 tablespoons for topping, optional)

Step-by-Step Method

5-step method
01

Prepare the oven

Bake Heat to 200°C. Place baking paper on the tray so that the cookies can be separated easily.

02

Knead the dough

Mix butter and granulated sugar briefly in a bowl. Add the flour and salt (if using); Make a soft dough that does not stick to the hand by pouring the water slowly. Be careful not to knead too much and heat the dough.

03

Shape

Tear off walnut-sized pieces from the dough. Roll it on the counter like a thin strip and bring the two ends closer together to form an “8” shape. If desired, lightly dip the top in granulated sugar.

04

Bake

Arrange the cookies on the tray, spaced apart. Cook for 7 minutes; When the edges start to get a very light color, remove it from the oven. Do not fry too much, it will thicken as it cools.

05

Cool and serve

Let the cookies sit on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack. You can serve it when it's warm.
