01

Prepare the oven and mold

Preheat the oven to 175°C. Grease a medium-sized cake mold and cover the base with wax paper if desired; so the cake comes out easier.

02

Mix dry ingredients

Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl until homogeneous. All you have to do is aerate the flour with a spoon to avoid lumps.

03

Add sugar and vanilla

Add the granulated sugar to the dry mixture, then add the vanilla. Be careful to distribute the sugar throughout the mixture.

04

Connect the eggs

Add the eggs one by one and mix with a spatula or on low speed of the mixer. The dough may appear thick and dense; normal in this recipe.

05

Prepare the apples

Blend sliced apples with 1/2 cup sugar. In a separate bowl, mix cinnamon and 4 tablespoons of sugar.

06

Form the layers

Spread one third of the dough into the mold. Arrange some of the apples on top and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Repeat the same process 2 more times; Leave the cinnamon-sugar on the top layer.

07

Bake

Bake the cake on the middle shelf of the oven for about 60 minutes. Check after 50 minutes; If the toothpick comes out clean, take it out of the oven.

08

Rest and serve

Let it rest in the mold for 10–15 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack and cool completely. Slice and serve; If you want, you can also sprinkle lightly powdered sugar on top.
