Step-by-Step Method

9-step method
01

Prepare the pot

Put sugar, corn syrup and butter in a medium-sized pot. Stir over medium heat until the butter melts.

02

Cook the mixture

When the mixture starts to boil, reduce the heat and cook for another 5–8 minutes. Stir frequently; There should be no burning at the edges.

03

Add flavoring

Remove from heat, add vanilla and salt. Stir for a few seconds and let the steam calm down a bit.

04

Add dry ingredients Gather the dough

Add the milk powder. Then add the powdered sugar little by little and mix with a spoon; Leave it when the mixture thickens and comes together.

05

Knead and adjust the consistency

Sprinkle powdered sugar on the counter, take the mixture and knead it briefly with your hand. If it sticks to your hands, add a little more powdered sugar; If it gets too hard, let it rest for 1-2 minutes.

06

Color (optional)

Divide the dough into 3 parts. Leave one piece white; Knead the other two parts separately with yellow and orange food coloring.

07

Create layers

Make each piece into strips of approximately the same length. Glue the strips by placing them side by side and pressing lightly; Let them not overlap, but stand side by side.

08

Shape and cut

Flatten the strip slightly, then cut into triangles 1–1.5 cm apart. Arrange the pieces on wax paper.

09

Rest and store

Leave it at room temperature for 1–2 hours; Let the surface dry a little. Store in an airtight container.
