Whole black peppercorn
Whole black cardamom seeds

Optional for serving: 1-2 lemon slices or 1-2 honey

Step-by-Step Method

5-step method
01

Prep the ginger

Rinse the fresh ginger, peel it lightly if you want, then slice it into thin pieces so it infuses quickly.

02

Bring water to a boil

Pour the water into a small pot and bring it up to a steady boil.

03

Add the spices

Add the ginger, peppercorn, cardamom seeds, clove, and cinnamon sticks. Give it a quick stir and cover.

04

Simmer and steep

Lower the heat and let it gently simmer for 8–10 minutes. If you want a stronger cup, extend by 2–3 minutes.

05

Strain and serve

Strain into mugs. Add lemon if you like; if using honey, stir it in after turning off the heat.
