Coffee and Rum Tiramisu Recipe (Mascarpone and Cream Cheese)
This tiramisu recipe uses strong coffee, a small splash of rum, and a mascarpone–cream cheese filling. The ingredients are straightforward and the steps are quick: cool the coffee, whip the creamy base, layer it up, then finish with cocoa. A good chill time helps it slice neatly.

Step-by-Step Method
Prepare the coffee mixture
Brew strong coffee. Stir in the instant espresso, then add rum if using. Let it cool completely so the cream layer stays thick.
Whip the creamy filling
Beat the cream cheese and mascarpone until smooth. Add the granulated sugar and powdered sugar gradually. Stop once it’s thick and spreadable; don’t overmix.
Build the layers
Pour the cooled coffee mixture into a wide bowl. Spread a thin layer of cream in the dish. Add a coffee-soaked layer using the mixture, then spread more cream. Keep layering until everything is used.
Finish with cocoa
Smooth the top. Dust cocoa evenly through a fine sieve. Cover the dish.
Chill and serve
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight is best). Slice to serve; if needed, add a light extra dusting of cocoa right before serving.
