Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
A classic chocolate chip cookies recipe: cream butter with two sugars, bind with egg and vanilla, fold in the dry mix, then stir through chocolate chips. They bake in about 10 minutes for a lightly crisp edge and a soft center. Keep mixing brief once the flour goes in to maintain a tender cookie texture.
Ingredients
1. Dry ingredients
2. Wet mixture
Step-by-Step Method
Preheat and line the tray
Heat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with parchment so the cookies lift easily.
Mix the dry ingredients
Combine flour, salt, and baking soda in a bowl. A quick whisk is enough to distribute everything evenly.
Cream butter and sugars
Beat the butter with caster sugar and brown sugar for 1–2 minutes until creamy.
Add egg and vanilla
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract just until the mixture looks smooth.
Fold in the flour mix
Add the dry ingredients and fold until you no longer see streaks of flour. Don’t overmix to keep the cookies tender.
Stir in chocolate chips
Add the chocolate chips and mix briefly so they’re spread through the dough.
Portion the dough
Scoop walnut-sized portions onto the tray, leaving space between them since the dough will spread as it bakes.
Bake and cool
Bake for 10 minutes, until the edges are lightly colored. Let them sit on the tray for 5 minutes, then move to a rack to cool.
