Step-by-Step Method

7-step method
01

Preheat the oven, prepare the tray

Preheat the oven to 160°C (150°C with fan). Lay baking paper on the tray; Since the biscuits will spread, we will space them out.

02

Mix the dry ingredients

Mix oatmeal, flour and granulated sugar in a bowl until evenly distributed. If there is a lump, gently break it out with your hand.

03

Melt the butter and syrup

Melt the butter and golden syrup in a small saucepan over low heat. Decoction; just let it become fluid.

04

Activate the baking soda

Mix water and baking soda in a separate small bowl, then pour this mixture into the hot syrupy mixture in the pot. Slight foaming is normal.

05

Assemble the dough

Add the hot liquid mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix with spatula; It should be a moist mixture that does not stick to the hand and can be taken with a spoon.

06

Shape it and place it on the tray

Take tablespoonfuls of the mixture and place them on the tray, spaced apart. If you want, press very lightly with the back of the spoon; Don't press too hard, it will spread while cooking.

07

Bake and let it rest

Cook for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven when the edges are light brown. Leave it on the tray for 5 minutes; then place it on a wire rack and cool completely.
